Modex 2012: New show opens for business with focus on the supply chain

Atlanta, it turns out, is an ideal location for a new show bringing together all of the components and players in the supply chain, from the materials and information handling solution providers we’re used to seeing at ProMat and the old NA show, to logistics and transportation providers and supply chain thought leaders.

Following a formal ribbon cutting, Modex 2012 opened for business at 10 a.m. yesterday. Atlanta, it turns out, is an ideal location for a new show bringing together all of the components and players in the supply chain, from the materials and information handling solution providers we’re used to seeing at ProMat and the old NA show, to logistics and transportation providers and supply chain thought leaders.

“Before it was known as Atlanta, this city was called Terminus,” said Mayor Kasim Reed during his welcoming remarks. “We were the intersection for all of the railroads serving the South. Today, we are still at the crossroads of logistics, with one of the busiest airports in the country and the fastest-growing port on the Eastern seaboard. Atlanta cares about what you do.”

Similar sentiments were expressed by Dave Young, chairman of the Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA), the sponsor of the show. “When it comes to uncovering those big ideas, products and people that will make all the difference in moving your business forward, Modex is the place to find them,” Young said.

What then can you expect to see as you walk the show floor? The concept behind the event is to bring together industry leaders that can deliver one-of-a-kind insight into the overall supply chain, and not just one segment, in one location.

“You are welcome in this city,” said Reed before he cut the ribbon. “We are rolling out the red carpet for this important event.”

Modex 2012 is scheduled to be held February 6-9, 2012 in Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the material handling and logistics industry. Modern’s complete Modex 2012 coverage.
