As the freshly appointed CEO of the Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA)—having succeeded John Nofsinger at his retirement as CEO on Dec. 31, 2011—George Prest is excited to welcome attendees to MHIA’s newest show. It’s an event that he helped plan during his term as a volunteer on MHIA’s board for many years.

“When I was an MHIA board member, I chaired our trade show work group,” he recalled. “In 2005, we re-examined our show plan and did extensive surveying of attendees. Based on that feedback, we developed Modex and its conference-based format presenting a broader range of ‘big picture’ topics that encompassed supply chain, education and equipment.”

Prest brings more than 30 years of experience to MHIA, both in managing and owning materials handling manufacturing companies. His volunteer leadership of multiple industry manufacturer and distributor associations included serving as president of the Rack Manufacturers Institute (RMI) and the Material Handling Education Foundation (MHEFI), as executive chairman of Material Handling Industry (MHI), and as a member of the Manufacturers Board of Advisors (MBOA) of the Material Handling Equipment Distributors Association (MHEDA).

“That experience,” said MHIA’s executive chairman Colin Wilson, “gives George a unique perspective on the needs of both MHIA members and end users and will serve him well in his new role as CEO of MHIA.”

Modex 2012 is scheduled to be held February 6-9, 2012 in Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the material handling and logistics industry. Modern’s complete Modex 2012 coverage.
