Multi-modal on display at Intermec

The mobile computing solution provider highlighted two families of products at a press conference on Monday.

As end users look for new ways to enable the mobile work, Intermec (Booth 4209) is introducing new families of devices to enable mobility, according to Tim Eusterman, senior director of industry marketing.

The mobile computing solution provider highlighted two families of products at a press conference on Monday.

The CK3 family of devices bring together mobile computing and data entry, voice and RF scanning in one multi-modal unit. The device can be used as a handheld, wearable or lift truck-mounted mobile computer. With three data collection modes, workers can easily shift from voice recognition in a picking operation to bar code scanning or manual entry on the receiving or shipping docks.

“These products allow a smaller end user to combine multiple modes of communication on a single flexible platform that is easy to support,” Eusterman said.
Intermec also highlighted the 70 Series, a line of rugged mobile computers that features four different form factors for a variety of applications with a common back end software system.

The devices can be uses for near and long-range bar code scanning, 2D image capture and digital image capture. The computers also include a feature that allows a worker to extract text from an image or label that can be compared to a database for quality assurance and verification.

ProMat 2011 will be held March 21 - 24, 2011 at McCormick Place South in Chicago. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the material handling and logistics industry.
