NMHG presents $20,200 check to United Way of Pitt County

As a proud sponsor of East Carolina University (ECU) Athletics, NMHG presented a check for $20,200 to United Way of Pitt County during Wednesday night’s basketball game versus Marshall in Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.

NACCO Materials Handling Group’s (NMHG) 2012 fundraising efforts are off to a strong start. As a proud sponsor of East Carolina University (ECU) Athletics, NMHG presented a check for $20,200 to United Way of Pitt County during Wednesday night’s basketball game versus Marshall in Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.

Since its involvement with the United Way of Pitt County in 1999, NMHG has donated more than $3.4 million to those in need throughout the community.

“NMHG is proud to have employees who voluntarily donate to local charitable causes,” said Brett Schemerhorn, VP of marketing, NMHG. “Our organization has been able to generate $20,200 so far
during this year’s basketball season by donating $100 for each three-point shot made. The continued support of the United Way of Pitt County and ECU Athletics signifies our employees’ belief in and
dedication to supporting the local community.”

Jim Cieslar, executive director of United Way of Pitt County, joined Schemerhorn at center court during the second half to accept the check.

“We are so thankful to NMHG and its employees for the continued support of United Way of Pitt County,” said Cieslar. “These funds will be used to reduce high school dropout rates, reduce unemployment and provide financial support through disaster relief programs in Pitt County. Donations that we receive on behalf of your company enable our cause to be effective. Once again, NMHG and its employees have proven that they are wonderful neighbors and corporate citizens.”

Founded more than 50 years ago, United Way of Pitt County is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization that seeks to advance the common good by focusing on the keys to a good life – education, income, health and neighbors helping neighbors.
