Wednesday’s keynote panel discussed significant industry trends from the new MHI 2016 Annual Industry Report, including hiring/retaining skilled workers; customer demand for faster response times, and customer demand for lower delivered costs.
Examining ways to use automation to increase speed and lower costs, including robots, were overarching insights from the panel.
Here (from left) the two moderators and four panelists discuss robotics: Scott M. Sopher, principal, Deloitte; George Prest, CEO, MHI; Gregg Goodner, MHI president, board member, Hytrol Conveyor; Todd Farwell, global resource deployment champion with Caterpillar; Jay Kim, chief strategy officer, APX Labs; Tim Brown, managing director of the Supply Chain Logistics Institute at Georgia Tech; and Randy V. Bradley, assistant professor of IS and Supply Chain Management, Haslam College of Business, University of Tennessee.
