Representatives from Savoye and Retrotech spoke at a press conference Wednesday about their new union, finalized in February. Peter Hartman, president of Retrotech, said the acquisition of his company would be minimally disruptive.

“The methodologies and approaches to the market are quite similar,” said Hartman, who said his company’s brand, facilities and workers would remain the same.

Hartman said the partnership combines the best of the consulting world and the best of the manufacturing world for a focus on returns, advancement of strategic intent and risk management.

Chuck Harris, director of business development for Savoye, also demonstrated his company’s picking tray system and emphasized features that distinguish the three-dimensional shuttle-based system from conventional AS/RS offerings. The system is highly scalable and highly modular, said Harris, who said the system allows customers to make better use of space, increase its rate on the fly, increase efficiency and improve worker ergonomics.

Retrotech acquired by Savoye
Retrotech, a leading engineering services firm specializing in warehouse automation, was acquired in its entirety by a subsidiary of Groupe Legris, a $500 million diversified industrial company.

ProMat 2011 will be held March 21 - 24, 2011 at McCormick Place South in Chicago. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the material handling and logistics industry.
