The SDI Group today announced the acquisition of technology assets from AL Systems, Inc., of Rockaway, NJ. This acquisition expands SDI’s materials handling and order fulfillment software platform by adding RF-, light-, and voice-based paperless order picking and light-based order sortation and packing. These platform additions will complement SDI’s materials handling solutions and services. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition includes AL Systems’ DynaPro software products and engineered order fulfillment solutions. This distinctive technology provides advanced capabilities for retailers to efficiently distribute product to their retail stores, and for retailers and distributors to fill and ship orders to their customers, whether business customers or consumers buying over the web.

“This acquisition further demonstrates our commitment to invest in our business,” said Mary Adams, CEO of SDI Group. “When combined with our existing carton and unit sortation solutions, these additional capabilities provide customers with a complete, end-to-end solution for optimizing distribution operations.  We look forward to welcoming the current AL Systems’ customers to the SDI family and continuing to provide them with the best-in-class systems and support they have become accustomed to. SDI’s strong financial position and broad resource pool provides these customers with additional security that the systems they invested in will continue to be supported and enhanced.”

SDI and AL Systems have been working together for a number of years with AL Systems utilizing SDI’s material handling hardware on a number of implementations. In addition to acquiring the technology assets, the majority of AL Systems’ associates will be joining the SDI team providing AL Systems’ customers with continuity and resources familiar with their systems.
