Stop and Shop was awarded the Bryant University Diamond Award for Industry Excellence in Supply Chain Education during the 7th Annual Northeast Supply Chain Management Summit (SCMS) in Smithfield, R.I.
This award recognizes an organization that demonstrates superior commitment to supply chain education.
“Stop and Shop’s commitment to supporting quality supply chain educational programs make them the ideal recipient of the Diamond Award,” said Richard J. Joseph, the interim provost and Chief Academic Officer of Bryant University. “Not only does Stop and Shop provide continuing education opportunities for their current employees, but they also actively recruit college graduates in supply chain training programs. Their strong relationship with higher education partners contributes to a superior supply chain workforce, and it is our great pleasure to present them with this designation.”
“Stop and Shop hosts tours of their supply chain facilities for interested students, hires interns from college supply chain programs as well as enthusiastically participates in supply chain career fairs,” said Teresa McCarthy, associate professor of marketing at Bryant University. “They are exemplary—a large corporation who pledges time and resources to the future of supply chain, and we are proud to recognize their ongoing commitment.”
The Bryant University Diamond Award for Industry Excellence in Supply Chain Education was presented at the SCMS opening reception, attended by dozens of industry professionals.
The Supply Chain Management Summit was established in 2008 when Banneker Industries, in partnership with the John H. Chafee Center for International Business, Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation, Rhode Island Manufacturing Extension Service, and Institute for Supply Management Greater Rhode Island set out to educate businesses about supply chains.
