Toyota celebrates the season with donations

The Salvation Army, food banks and other local charities receive equipment and monetary donations.

Toyota Forklifts, the world’s leading brand of material handling equipment, recently donated to the Midwest Food Bank, Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund and other local charities.

Last month, the Midwest Food Bank, a nonprofit organization committed to serving communities throughout the state of Indiana, received its second forklift from Toyota. The donated forklift, which was manufactured at the Toyota campus in Columbus, Indiana, will handle the loading and unloading of millions of dollars of food and supplies to people in need.

Last week, the Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund received a $5,000 check from Toyota to help the foundation purchase bicycles for children in the community. The Cheer Fund gave away its first bicycle in 1949 and today it remains one of the most requested and popular holiday gifts for local children.

Toyota also held a charity drive to provide food for The Love Chapel; coats, scarves and hats for The Salvation Army; and toys for The Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund.

“One of Toyota’s core values is to be kind and generous,” said Toyota’s president Jeff Rufener. “We’re proud to be a company that lends a helping hand to those who need it.”
