For years, industrial robotics has been relegated to repetitive processes, like spot welding or palletizing at the end of the manufacturing line.

That's beginning to change.

Jeff Burnstein Robotic Industries Association (RIA)
		Jeff Burnstein joined RIA in 1983 as Manager of Public Relations. In the ensuring years, he has served as Director of Marketing & PR and Managing Director the Automated Imaging Association (AIA), a trade group serving the machine vision industry created by RIA in 1984. In 2007 he was named President of RIA and AIA, as well as the Motion Control Association (MCA), a trade group serving the motion control industry. RIA, AIA, and MCA are under the umbrella of the Automation Technologies Council (ATC), which Mr. Burnstein also heads. He oversees a staff of 13 at the ATC Headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Combined, ATC represents some 550 automation companies. Key activities include development of industry standards, collection of industry statistics, sponsorship of leading trade shows and conferences, and publication of three industry websites: Robotics Online (www.robotics.org), Machine Vision Online (www.machinevisiononline.org), and Motion Control Online (www.motioncontrolonline.org). Prior to joining RIA in 1983, he held public relations positions at the Society of Manufacturing Engineers as well as the Central Business District Association of downtown Detroit. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Michigan.
