Vertical fabric columns convert storage bays to dynamic picking zones

Debuting as a ProMat exhibitor for the first time, SpeedCell Storage Systems (Booth 4147) offers a line of subdivided, movable vertical columns constructed of fabric for product storage.

Debuting as a ProMat exhibitor for the first time, SpeedCell Storage Systems (Booth 4147) offers a line of subdivided, movable vertical columns constructed of fabric for product storage. Previous iterations of the product have been displayed as a part of other vendors’ storage solutions, explained J. W. Jones, SpeedCell’s director of sales and marketing, in a press conference on Monday.

“We’re taking this opportunity to expand our visibility in the market and show the latest design developments in our product,” said Jones.

Each storage column is custom-made to accommodate existing or new pallet rack and wide-span shelving system installations, he explained. Columns are track-suspended and hold up to 240 pounds. “The track allows them to be easily shifted aside for access to other columns of stored inventory. This turns a standard storage bay into a flexible, high-density, fast picking zone,” he added.

New design features include the ability to use flue space within the racking for additional storage density, said Jones.

The anti-static column material is laminated and flame resistant. Typical installations range from two to five columns deep per 24- to 60-inch uprights, he added, noting that the system is ideal for cold storage, warehouse and back storeroom use.

ProMat 2013 is scheduled to be held January 21-24, 2013 in Chicago’s McCormick Place South. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the material handling and logistics industry. Modern’s complete ProMat 2013 coverage.
