WERCing it in North Carolina

Enthusiastic WERC members take the lead and form a new, local WERCouncil.

In a continuing effort to reach logistics professionals across the country, the Warehousing and Education Research Council (WERC) has announced the formation of a new WERCouncil in North Carolina.

WERC CEO Michael Mikitka said, “We wholeheartedly welcome our hard-working volunteers who are taking time out of their busy schedules to start up this grassroots effort. WERC’s strength lies in their dedication.”

In an interview with Modern, Mikitka explained the importance of WERCouncils that offer education and networking at the local level. “Because the board defines their own local needs, the group can be more responsive to members in the area.”

Mikitka also said that WERC helps the local leaders identify speakers, programs and tours that best suit specific needs. “This is particularly important because people who don’t travel to national WERC events are able to get the same benefits of the organization.”

The new WERCouncil group president is Sheila Benny, Optricity. Directors-at-large indude the following: Kristen Basmajian, Optricity; Steve Hensley, Blue Sky Technologies; Walter Martin, NC Consortium for Logistics Education; Jennifer Miller, Lord Corporation; and Fred Voss, Newstar Logistics.
