XPO’s service offerings for Sealed Air are extended through new contract

Freight transportation and logistics services provider XPO Logistics said today it is expanding its almost ten-year relationship with packaging services provider Sealed Air Corporation with a new multi-year contract through the rollout of a North American-based integrated warehousing and logistics management program.

Freight transportation and logistics services provider XPO Logistics said today it is expanding its almost ten-year relationship with packaging services provider Sealed Air Corporation with a new multi-year contract through the rollout of a North American-based integrated warehousing and logistics management program.

Through this effort, XPO will provide support for four of Sealed Air’s product lines–Diversey, Cryovac, Instapak, and Taski-in a 550,000 square-foot warehouse located in Sturtevant, Wisc. XPO said it will provide various services for Sealed Air, including inventory management, light assembly kitting, labeling, fulfillment, and order distribution.

An XPO official told LM that this contract is significant in that XPO is expanding its service footprint with Sealed Air, adding contract logistics in North America to United States less-than-truckload (LTL) and intermodal, and European contract logistics services that it already provides for Sealed Air.

Rick Olson, Executive Director, Logistics North America, Sealed Air Corp., explained that this contract extension provides myriad benefits from a Sealed Air perspective.

"Sealed Air's biggest benefit in collaboration is realized with real-time visibility to our inbound and outbound shipment statuses with advanced technology,” he said. “This allows us to monitor and correct issues before they reach our customers.”

Approximately 150 XPO staffers will provide services for Sealed Air at the Sturtevant, Wisc. Facility in various positions, including operations management and supervision, inventory control, industrial engineering, business analytics, order planning and fulfillment, material handlers and equipment operators, safety and other administrative personnel.  The official added that this operation is up and running.

“We are delighted to bring additional value to Sealed Air’s supply chain with this major expansion of our role in North America,” said Ashfaque Chowdhury, XPO Logistics president–supply chain, Americas and Asia Pacific, in a statement. “Sealed Air has entrusted us with delivering an advanced solution for warehousing and distribution. We are now engaged in bringing our expertise to bear from both sides of the Atlantic, to give this important customer every advantage in serving its global network.”
