Yale announces driverless tow tractor using Seegrid vision guidance

Yale Materials Handling (Booth 6123) announced the Yale MO50T tow tractor guided by Seegrid, a driverless automatic guided vehicle capable of towing 10,000 pounds.

Yale Materials Handling (Booth 6123) announced the Yale MO50T tow tractor guided by Seegrid, a driverless automatic guided vehicle capable of towing 10,000 pounds.

The tow tractor requires no additional infrastructure for navigation such as wires, laser targets or magnetic tape, according to Jill Comer, VP of sales for Yale Material Handling. An operator trains the vehicle by driving a desired route while programming behaviors like stopping and honking at pedestrian crossings.

The Yale MO25 center-rider pallet jack features a raising operator platform that allows access to pick faces at heights of 6.5 to 9.5 feet. Foot controls raise the platform 38.5 inches, below the OSHA requirements for fall protection.

Comer also noted the Yale MPB walkie with Smart Lift, capable of lifting while moving forward. Comer said extensive research had proven the MPB can reduce the time required to empty a trailer by 25%. Because it can be steered while the handle is fully upright, it is also ideal for tight spaces.

Modex 2014 is scheduled to be held March 17-20, 2014 in Atlanta’s Georgia World Conference Center. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the material handling and logistics industry. Modern’s complete Modex 2014 coverage.
