Automated system flips loads
The Pak-Man upender-inverter includes powered conveyor and micro-processor control for automatic operation. Actions include automatic loading, clamping 180-degree rotation, upending, opening and unloading in automated process-handling operations. The unit automatically loads large panels, doors, cabinets, stacks of sheet material, metal, paper or wood. Once lifted, the unit flips the load upside down or right-side up and discharges it. FKI Logistex Manufacturing Systems has introduced the Maestro free-roaming storage retrieval crane. The Maestro combines the features of automated storage and retrieval (AS/RS) for aisle operations with the aisle-changing flexibility of a very narrow aisle (VNA) truck. Cattron-Theimeg Inc. has introduced two collision avoidance systems for overhead cranes: UltraGuard and LCAS (Laser Collision Avoidance System shown in photo). Both systems are designed to protect cranes from colliding with end walls or other equipment. UltraGuard is a self-contained, zone-adjustable range detection system, which operates with advanced ultrasonic technology and digital processing. When installed on overhead cranes, UltraGuard can warn of impending collisions, slow the crane's speed and ultimately stop it before it collides with other machinery or a wall. UltraGuard has three operating modes: half-duplex for multiple overhead cranes; single reflective mode, which senses standard reflection from solid objects; and complex mode, which is similar to half-duplex but with additional reflective capability. The system also contains fail-safe modes and has been designed for self-diagnostics and continuous verification of performance....more
