Simple Solution to Manual Palletizing Problems
Loading and unloading pallets does not have to be back breaking work. Unfortunately, for many people it is. The process of reaching, turning, bending, stretching, and carrying boxes from one location to a pallet is complex and involves a number of significant muscle groups. The risk injury or repetitive stress disorder grows significantly with each pallet loaded and unloaded.

Load and unload pallets without stooping, bending or stretching.

The P3™ -- Presto Pallet Positioner is a self-leveling device that automatically lowers or raises pallets as loads are added or removed. The benefits to workers are immediate. By positioning pallets at a comfortable working height, bending and stretching is virtually eliminated. This improvement in posture means less fatigue, fewer back problems, and faster loading and unloading.

A big problem associated with manual palletizing is walking with boxes to or from the pallet. Even though this usually involves very short distances (a few feet) there are several risks associated. Carrying the load puts stress on the body. Often times in order to load the pallet uniformly a worker must walk around the pallet on the floor. With vision obstructed by the box in their hands, the possibility of tripping on the corner of the pallet is significant. To eliminate this risk the P3 incorporates an easy spinning turntable top so that pallets can be loaded with no walking. The worker simply spins the pallet to the desired position and continues loading or unloading without having to move.

Can be loaded and unloaded with a Presto Straddle Stacker.

Because the P3 is pneumatic, it can accommodate a wide load range (400 to 4,500 lbs.). A simple connection to "shop" air charges the unit, which can then be disconnected and moved anywhere in the plant. The ability to handle wide load ranges, combined with a wide base which requires no lagging means the P3 does not have to be dedicated to a single application. Instead it can be moved (the unit features handy fork pockets) to any location in the plant.

The P3 is built tough to perform for years with little or no maintenance. The turntable top is mounted on anti-friction bearings for smooth, effortless rotation. The airbag is constructed of heavy-duty rubber to prevent bursting, cracking or leaking and a spring mechanism prevents the load from falling even if the airbag losses its charge. Heavy gauge steel construction withstands rough handling.

The Presto Skid Lifter lifts, transports, and vertically positions loads.

P3 Load Levelers are available with a number of options: A phenolic turntable cover prevents debris from falling into the unit; a solid turntable top accommodates smaller pallets and skids; and a bellows guard to keep debris from collecting under the unit.

For the ultimate in worker productivity Presto recommends a P3 System which consists of one or more P3 units and a Presto straddle stacker. The addition of the stacker allows workers to load and unload the pallets from the P3 themselves. They don't need to find a forklift or certified forklift operator to come and do it for them. This means less time is spent loading and unloading the P3 unit and more time is spent loading and unloading the pallet. The stacker's straddle legs move into position outside the P3 allowing it to get in close to pick up or drop off the pallet.

For maximum versatility the Presto Skid Lifter multi-function device is the answer. This manual high lifting pallet truck can be used to transport loads up to 3,000 lbs. and then position them vertically at the most comfortable working height up to 32 inches. Lifting is achieved by pumping the handle. A unique 2-stage pump allows for quick lifting (18 strokes) of loads under 600 lbs., and automatically switches to an easy lift mode (55 strokes) for loads over 600 lbs.

The P4 can be loaded and unloaded with a hand pallet truck.

For applications that require hand pallet truck accessibility, Presto offers the P4 Roll-On Level Loader. Once loaded with a pallet the operator can precisely position loads at a comfortable height. As boxes are added or removed, a simple push of a button will raise or lower the unit. P4 units are available in capacities up to 4,000 lbs. To prevent injury as loads are lowered, the P4 is equipped with a photo eye safety stop.
