The ISM’s monthly Non-Manufacturing Report on Business said that the index used by the ISM to measure non-manufacturing growth—known as the NMI—was 53.7 in May, rising 0.6 percent from April.

Manufacturing activity in May contracted for the first time since November 2012, according to the Institute for Supply Management (ISM). The PMI, the index used by the ISM to measure manufacturing activity—at 49 in May was down 1.7 percent from April’s 50.7

The ISM’s monthly Non-Manufacturing Report on Business stated that the index used by the ISM to measure non-manufacturing growth—known as the NMI—was 53.1 in April, falling 1.3 percent from March. Despite the decline, though, non-manufacturing activity increased for the 40th consecutive month.

In its spring 2013 Semiannual Economic Forecast, the Institute for Supply Management said its spring 2013 Semiannual Report is calling for economic growth for the rest of the year in the manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors.

Coming off of a month which saw its highest reading in a year, non-manufacturing activity in March still showed positive signs, according to data released today by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM).

While some of its key metrics saw sequential declines, manufacturing growth continues to head in the right direction, according to monthly Manufacturing Report on Business from the Institute for Supply Management (ISM).

The PMI, the index used by the ISM to measure manufacturing activity, was 53.1 in January, which tops December by 2.9 percent.

Gains in New Orders and Employment lead the way for a 1.4 percent sequential improvement.

The PMI, the index used by the ISM to measure manufacturing activity, was 49.5 in November, which was down 2.2 percent from October’s 51.7.
