Pcdata offers pick cart with route-optimization software, cuts operator travel time

Ideal for high stock keeping unit (SKU) count, low frequency warehouses, the PickCart multi-order picking solution is equipped with route optimization software. This maximizes picking efficiency, said Antonio Rodrigues, North American sales manager for Pcdata’s (Booth 4834) pick control systems.

Ideal for high stock keeping unit (SKU) count, low frequency warehouses, the PickCart multi-order picking solution is equipped with route optimization software. This maximizes picking efficiency, said Antonio Rodrigues, North American sales manager for Pcdata’s (Booth 4834) pick control systems.
“The software ensures that operators travel the shortest distance possible when filling orders,” he said.

Using pick-to-light modules, the cart can handle up to 50 orders. It can be deployed as a stand-alone solution or combined with other picking technologies.

Easily integrated with existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) and warehouse management system (WMS) software, the cart’s software is fully customizable. The software runs on any Windows-based computer, using standard wireless network protocols. It does not require dedicated servers or complex network infrastructure.
“Additionally, our control software includes a navigation view that shows each cart’s location on a graphical, overhead schematic of a warehouse, or picking zone—however management wants to configure the cart system,” Rodrigues said.

The hardware can be applied to as many different cart configurations and sizes as required, either in new installations or as a retrofit to an existing cart fleet, he added.

Modex 2014 is scheduled to be held March 17-20, 2014 in Atlanta’s Georgia World Conference Center. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the material handling and logistics industry. Modern’s complete Modex 2014 coverage.
