Psion introduces new modular handheld bar code scanner

Mike Jachimiec, VP of Channel Sales for Psion (Booth 1423), has seen it all too often. A customer says they don’t need long-range scanning, installs a half million dollars in short-range bar code scanning equipment, and six months later the company adapts and long-range scans become crucial.
“It’s a gamble,” said Jachimiec, who emphasized the modularity of Psion’s new Omni XT10. “With the Omni, instead of trying to work around the wrong equipment, a customer can swap out a new scanner for a tenth of the cost of new equipment.”
Pistol grips, scanners, screens and keyboards are all tailored to the needs of an individual customer – or an individual department – and can be interchanged at any time as business conditions change.
ProMat 2011 will be held March 21 - 24, 2011 at McCormick Place South in Chicago. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the material handling and logistics industry.
