Dock safety, presence detection devices debut at Rite-Hite

The additional camera view of the exterior vehicle restraint lets an operator visually confirm engagement with a trailer’s rear impact guard (RIG)

Rite-Hite’s (Booth S1612) NEMA 4X Dok-Commander system—which integrates multiple pieces of loading dock equipment into one centralized control unit—has been enhanced with the Lok-Vu real-time trailer presence monitor. The additional camera view of the exterior vehicle restraint lets an operator visually confirm engagement with a trailer’s rear impact guard (RIG), said Troy Bergum, product manager.

Overall, the Dok-Commander interlock system allows programming of Rite-Hite’s Dok-Lok vehicle restraints, overhead doors and dock leveler equipment to operate in a safe, sequential order.

“Operating external dock equipment with multiple controls from inside can be confusing and sometimes dangerous,” he explained. “The live camera monitoring enhances both safety and security.”

Additionally, Bergum showcased two new Rite-Vu light communication products: Pedestrian-Vu for dock interiors and Approach-Vu for exteriors have been added to Corner-Vu and Leveler-Vu systems. The four components use motion detection, line-of-sight notification and audible alarms to provide hazard recognition and communication to personnel on and off forklifts.

“Working in tandem, these safety tools help create a safer, more productive loading dock environment—both inside and outside—by keeping people a step ahead of the potential dangers in their path,” he said.
