New White Paper focuses on the ABC’s of Anti-Dumping/Countervailing Duties

While the U.S. government has always prioritized protection of U.S. companies against imports that are sold at below market prices, or unfairly subsidized, the Trump administration clearly intends to raise the bar with regard to trade policy enforcement.

Did you know that, according to Customs and Border Protection (CBP), roughly four percent of products entering the United States are subject to anti-dumping or countervailing duties (AD/CVD)?

This means, essentially, that the U.S. Department of Commerce and the International Trade Commission have jointly determined that those products benefited from some type of unfair trade advantage, which in turn is harming U.S. domestic manufacturers.

For importers, it also means the products are subject to tariffs, that in some cases can more than double the cost of the item being imported.

A new white paper from Purolator International, “Understanding Customs:  Anti-Dumping and Countervailing Duties,” delves into the complicated issue of AD/CVD, to help importers better understand the concept, as well as their potential vulnerability.
