Sencorp White’s new president introduces horizontal carousel/robot combination

Newly appointed president of White Systems, a SencorpWhite (Booth S469) brand, Chris Lingamfelter provided a walk through of the company’s newest horizontal carousel automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) served by a collaborative robot.

Newly appointed president of White Systems, a SencorpWhite (Booth S469) brand, Chris Lingamfelter provided a walk through of the company’s newest horizontal carousel automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) served by a collaborative robot. Attendees can interact with the demo, selecting an item stored in the carousel with a tablet interface; the robot picks the specified item then presents it.

“This collaborative robot and carousel combination automates each picking or replenishment processes while reducing labor and speeding up throughput,” he explained, noting that the company also offers a line of automated robotic inserters/extractors for case picking. “The robot is safe to use around workers and requires no guarding or protective barriers; it enhances their productivity safely.”

Beyond supporting pick rates of up to 950 lines per operator per hour to reduce labor by up to 70%, the carousel’s inherent high-density storage capacity reduces floor space requirements by at least 60%. Additionally, the system boosts pick accuracy to 99.9% and easily integrates with warehouse management software (WMS), enterprise resource planning (ERP) and manufacturing resource planning (MRP) systems, he added.

Lingamfelter also discussed company’s 70th anniversary, as well as a recent increase in staffing and an expansion of their field service organization with new trucks carrying a deeper selection of spare stock onboard. “We have also expanded access to spare parts for our field service technicians, who can now search our entire network—both East and West Coast—to find a needed part if they don’t have it in their vehicle,” Lingamfelter added.
