Test-drive OTTO Motors’ robot in house with 5-day pilot program

Mobile robotics supplier OTTO Motors (Booth S4846) is highlighting the ease with which simplified configurations of their OTTO 1500 and OTTO 100 self-driving vehicles can be implemented within a warehousing, manufacturing or distribution facility. The units are specially configured with an onboard tablet to easily call and dispatch vehicles.

“Through our Test Drive program, companies considering an investment in our mobile robotic systems can have one of our vehicles in their facility for a five-day trial,” explained Simon Drexler, director of products.

What sets the solution apart from others is a user-friendly interface—which attendees can demo at the booth—that Drexler said is much easier to use than traditional robotic programming systems. “It includes the generation of the base map, a drag-and-drop functionality for setting destination points, and creation of a path between those points of interest.”

After unpacking the vehicle and mapping the space, OTTO can perform real work within hours and Drexler encourages users to increase, change or trial its workload in different parts of the facility throughout the week. “We designed the program as a low-risk means to trial self-driving vehicle technology. It gives users a chance to understand the technology, prove that it works in their particular facility, and experience how simple it is to make changes on the fly and evolve with your operation,” he said.
