Warehouse execution systems from Westfalia features more intuitive, user friendly interface

Westfalia’s (Booth S1238) Savanna.NET warehouse execution system (WES) has been enhanced with a more intuitive, user friendly interface, including running in different languages and dialects.

Westfalia’s (Booth S1238) Savanna.NET warehouse execution system (WES) has been enhanced with a more intuitive, user friendly interface, including running in different languages and dialects, said Dave Williams, director of software and solution delivery, during a tour of the new features yesterday.

Further, a new dashboard with a portal-style look has been integrated, making managerial views of key performance indicators more tile-based and visual. “If everything is showing up green, it’s all good,” Williams explained. “But, if something pops up red, you can easily mouse over—or touch-and-hold on a tablet screen—for a brief explanation of the fault. More detailed information, as well as the required steps for correction, can be accessed by a click or tap.”

Williams also demonstrated the company’s new Firefly tool, a 3D graphical depiction of the entire warehouse and its automated systems. “You can easily isolate different portions of the system to look at just stored inventory positions or just conveyor system flow—or you can look at the whole facility,” he added. “Again, if an icon is red and flashing, you know there’s a problem, and you can click on it to discover what that is and how to correct it.”

If a manual intervention is required, such as a physical movement of an item, the virtual representation can be updated with a simple drag and drop. “We’ve really focused on usability and on maximizing the user experience, as well as making system data more accessible and easier to utilize and understand,” said Williams.
