Wolter Group acquires Ellis Systems

Ellis provides space-saving solutions including mobile shelving systems, vertical lift modules, vertical carousels and rotary files.


Wolter Group has announced the acquisition of Ellis Systems, a leading distributor of high density storage and shelving solutions out of Lake Forest, Ill.

Ellis Systems will operate as a member of the automated material handling and storage sector of Wolter Group, which consists of Illinois Material Handling, Wisconsin Lift Truck Corp., Ellis Systems, Wolter Power Systems, and Fleet Services. Through its businesses, Wolter Group provides parts, rentals, service, training and new and used sales of lift trucks, aerials, industrial engines and generators, filing and material storage systems, automated material handling solutions as well as fleet management services.

Ellis Systems, founded in 1963 as a distributor of filing systems and equipment, provides solutions to customers throughout the Midwest, including healthcare facilities, schools and universities, police departments, law firms, and industrial warehousing. Its space-saving solutions include mobile shelving systems, vertical lift modules, vertical carousels, and rotary files.

“As our eighth acquisition in the last five years, Ellis Systems enhances our product offerings and solutions in the Illinois market and allows us to expand into the rapidly evolving automated material management and storage industry,” said Jerry Weidmann, president of Wolter Group.
