Commerce reported a gain of 0.7% over August, while NRF sales data increased 0.5% on a seasonally-adjusted basis over August.

U.S. retail sales began 2022 where 2021 ended—with solid growth—despite issues posed by Omicron variant and high levels of inflation, according to data respectively issued today by the United States Department of Commerce and the National Retail Federation (NRF).

December retail sales were down 1.2% compared to November, but Commerce reported they were up 2.3% compared to December 2017. Total 2018 retail sales were up 5%.

Commerce reported that June retail sales at $439.9 billion were up 0.2 percent over May and up 4.3 percent compared to June 2013, and total retail sales from April through June are up 4.5 percent annually.
