Bastian Solutions (Booth S3646) has a variety order picking technologies on display, including mobile robotic order picking, and augmented reality picking with vision-and voice-enabled wearable smart glasses for hands-free work.
“Augmented reality picking uses smart glasses to merge virtual images and information with an operator’s surrounding environment,” said Aaron Jones, president. “The operator wears the glasses, follows the commands given, and scans product bar codes all within the glasses’ display. Combining real-world and virtual information delivers speed and accuracy that exceeds the capabilities of previous warehouse picking technologies.”
In the realm of sortation systems, the ZiPline shoe sorter reaches rates in excess of 18,000 cases per hour and speeds of 650 feet per minute. Equipped with an all-electric divert for small or large products, the system operates smoothly and quietly. Productivity features include drop out switches and release slats with and an easy-to-clean, ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMW) surface.
The company is also showcasing its ROGUE composite pallet and a virtual reality system walk-through, allowing attendees to pick an item from carton flow rack and place into a tote as a system demo.
“Additionally, with the unprecedented complexity in modern-day order fulfillment, we’ve introduced a robotic print and paperwork inserter. It accurately places the correct documents in each shipping carton at the highest degree of accuracy to eliminate the manual labor while speeding up that process,” Jones added.
