Fortna hires John Mertz as chief financial officer

Mertz brings 35 years of experience in finance and operations.

Fortna, a leading supplier of supply chain solutions, has announced the hiring of John Mertz as chief financial officer.

Mertz will be a key member of Fortna’s senior executive team and will focus on leading the full scope of financial management both domestically and internationally.

Mertz brings to Fortna more than 35 years of experience in finance and operations, specifically in the roles of chief financial officer and chief operating officer. During his career, he has successfully driven sustainable, strategic growth of revenues and profits, leveraging strong operational and financial skills. He has traveled and conducted business extensively throughout the Americas, EMEA, and APAC.

Prior to joining Fortna, Mertz worked for FLSmidth, a $3 billion supplier to the cement and minerals industries, where he held a number of executive management positions including controller, chief financial officer, chief operating officer and most recently, senior vice president of global operations.

“I am excited to be part of the Fortna team,” Mertz said. “I am impressed by Fortna’s dedication to solid strategic growth and its commitment to excellence in innovation and in driving results for its clients.”

“John has a proven track record of deep financial experience and excellence in operations management of a fast growing enterprise,” said Peter Counihan, chairman and CEO of Fortna. “We’re looking forward to leveraging his skills and to strengthening the strategic capabilities of our executive team.”
