Newly revised edition of classic warehouse management book

enVista releases second edition of “Supervising on the Line: A Valuable Help Guide for First Line Supervisors”

enVista, a leading enterprise and supply chain consulting services firm, announced that it has published a second edition of the book, “Supervising on the Line:  A Self Help Guide for First Line Supervisors.”  The book offers valuable leadership skills and tools that first line supervisors need to be successful. Through stories and real life “on-the-line” examples, the book offers timeless, common sense tips for managing employees in the distribution environment. “Supervising on the Line” is often used as the basis for training sessions, as well as a handbook for ready reference.

Originally authored by labor management pioneer, Gene Gagnon, the book has been a widely popular and respected resource for first line supervisors over the past 30 years. enVista President Jim Barnes updated and published the book at the Gagnon family’s request to ensure that first line supervisors continue to benefit and add value to their organizations using the book’s common sense approach and important lessons.

“There have been numerous books written on management theory and practices,” says Barnes. “Many of these books tell you what a manager and first line supervisor need to do, but very few books inform the reader on how to actually lead, manage, communicate, direct and measure their associates.”

He adds, “Gene greatly understood the fact that it is people, not machines, who make the difference between a good and a bad operation. This book is a significant supply chain management resource, and I am greatly honored to have contributed
to it.”

The softcover, 125-page book is available for $12.95 at http://www.envistacorp.com/email/2010/book_1210/order_form.html or at http://www.amazon.com.
