Officials and experts to discuss ‘America’s new manufacturing’ during live-streamed event

Washington Post to stream and archive a day of discussion with executives, senators and governors.

On Tuesday, April 23, government officials and leading experts will discuss “America’s new manufacturing” during a Washington Post Live summit at The Washington Post. The event is from 8:30 am – 2:00 pm ET and will be live-streamed and archived at http://www.washingtonpostlive.com.

The day’s events will include discussion of near-shoring and the creation of innovation “hubs” across the nation. Government officials from across the country—Gov. Bill Haslam (R-Tenn.); Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D - Minn.); Sen. Sherrod Brown (D – Ohio) and Mayor Anthony Foxx of Charlotte, North Carolina—will join leading industry experts to discuss this new era in manufacturing.

Eric Spiegel, President and CEO of Siemens, will give opening remarks. Allan McArtor, Chairman of Airbus; Ron Bloom, Vice Chairman, U.S. Investment Banking, Lazard Frères & Co and Former Assistant to President Obama for Manufacturing Policy; Kirsten Billhardt, Manufacturing Industry Strategist, Dell; and Bill Krueger, Senior VP of Manufacturing at Nissan North America, will be among those speaking about the latest trends in manufacturing.

Leading innovators—including the director of the NASA Space Technology program, Michael Gazarik, and Logic Tools co-founder David Simchi-Levi—will offer a look into the future. And as an example of cutting-edge advanced manufacturing, a prototype of the Mars Rover will be on display.
