Ohio governor signs transportation bill at Daifuku America headquarters

Bill to direct $5 billion in funding to 1,600 infrastructure projects throughout the state.

Daifuku America Corporation, a leading provider of material handling solutions, welcomed Ohio Governor John R. Kasich, state and local officials and other dignitaries to its headquarters in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, today.

Governor Kasich signed Ohio’s 2016-2017 Transportation Budget Bill during the visit, which directs $5 billion to fund approximately 1,600 projects across Ohio, including expansions to I-71 in Columbus and I-70 in Clark County, the second phase of Cleveland’s Opportunity Corridor, and upgrades to the I-475/US 20 interchange in Lucas County.

“Ohio’s location within 600 miles of half the nation’s population is a great advantage,” Kasich said, “but it’s our infrastructure that allows us to put that advantage to work, attract companies and create jobs. This highway bill allows us to continue to maintain and improve our infrastructure so Ohio’s economy can continue to grow.”

“We are honored to be chosen as the location of the transportation budget bill signing,” said Tim Hund, president of Daifuku America Corporation. “We worked closely with the state to obtain a grant to expand our building and the road in front of our facility, which enabled us to add dozens of employees who now have better access to our facility. We have first-hand knowledge about how improving roads improves business.”

Last year, Daifuku America Corporation completed a large renovation project to update its offices and add nearly 10,000 square feet of space. The Reynoldsburg, Ohio, headquarters consists of over 100 office and manufacturing employees. Daifuku America is known for developing automated handling systems for the automotive and cleanroom industries.

Other highlights of the bill:
● $600 million to local governments for road and bridge improvements
● A new, innovative contracting process to streamline government and save taxpayer dollars
● Reforms to driver training that make Ohio roads safer
