Quantronix introduces new cubing and weighing system

Quantronix (Booth 3912) introduced the Cubiscan 125 (http://cubiscan.com/) at ProMat yesterday. The new cubing and weighing system is designed to provide accurate height, width, length and weight information about items with irregular shapes. It will also provide a WMS with the smallest cube that the products will fit into.

“The system can weigh and measure cartons and boxes and send that information to a warehouse management system like our other devices,” Clark Skeen, president, told Modern at a booth visit Wednesday. “But it can also weigh and measure consumer goods such as hardware, tools and jewelry that may not arrive at the DC in a carton or a box.”

The new cubing and weighing system is accurate to within 5/100th of an inch and 5/1000th of a pound. It was also designed with portability in mind, and can be placed on a specially designed cart to be moved to where it’s needed on the receiving or shipping dock.

Most important, the system was designed to be affordable. “For years, we had customers ask us for this functionality,” Skeen said. “We developed a system, but it wasn’t affordable. This system is in the ballpark for most customers.”

ProMat 2011 will be held March 21 - 24, 2011 at McCormick Place South in Chicago. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the material handling and logistics industry.
