Reusable Box Latch products replace tape, staples for corrugated carton sealing

Integrating “reusable and low-tech,” Box Latch products can reduce material costs by as much as 90%, according to James Wilson, CEO of manufacturer Eco Latch Systems (Booth N1114). In a press conference on Tuesday, Wilson introduced the product as an alternative to tape, staples and bands traditionally used to close corrugated and cardboard boxes.

“The savings are in both a reduction of tape expenses and increased corrugated box reuse, because the Box Latch products allow a carton to be securely closed and used multiple times without damaging it,” Wilson said.

That reusability contributes to companies’ sustainability initiatives, particularly as they seek to implement circular economy solutions tied to waste reduction within their manufacturing and logistics transportation systems, he added.

“The Box Latch products have been successfully incorporated into closed-loop systems, work-in-process and parts inventory storage operations. Manufacturers and assemblers working within an integrated supply chain have used them when handling partial components that are boxed and transported within a closed loop, for example,” he said.
