Student Day at ProMat 2023

MHI will present Student Day at ProMat 2023 on Wednesday, March 22nd, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In partnership with the Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC), College Industry Council on Material Handling (CICMHE), Material Handling Equipment Distributors Association (MHEDA) and the Material Handling Education Foundation (MHEFI), MHI will present Student Day at ProMat 2023 on Wednesday, March 22nd, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This interactive event connects college, university, trade, technical, specialty and high school students with the best in the industry through real-world discussions with industry experts, a guided tour of the show floor and networking with industry professionals.

The highlight of the day is the guided tour of the ProMat 2023 show floor. The tour will be led by industry experts and will give students a chance to meet the exhibiting companies who are looking for future employees. Students will gain real-world understanding of the products, services and technologies that enable the supply chain.

Complimentary to attend, Student Day is open to individuals who are 16 years and older and a faculty member is required to attend with students who are younger than 18. Students are required to dress and act professionally.

JoAnna Leon, director, WERC Membership & MHI-CICMHE, says the daylong event will kick off with a 40-minute meeting and introductions. A representative from MHI’s Board of Governors will lead the meeting and discuss some general industry facts and trends. Next, the president of the College Industry Council on Material Handling Education (CICMHE) will introduce the student winners of the design competition.

“CICMHE does a capstone design competition every year and it’ll be back for ProMat 2023,” said Leon. “The school that wins the design competition will have a few minutes to present their research and study.” There will be a short presentation highlighting this year’s MHEFI scholarship.

Students will then spend about 2-3 hours on the ProMat show floor before having lunch. Then, they’ll be treated to a livestreamed keynote from actor, producer and director Ron Howard, who will talk to them about the importance of having mentors.
