Prior to Tuesday morning’s keynote session, the winners of the inaugural Modex Innovation Awards were announced. Winning the Best New Innovation award for the Omni-directional Sorter was Intralox, while Product Protector took Best Innovation of an Existing Product.
“The awards were created to educate and provide valuable insights to Modex attendees about the latest innovative manufacturing and supply chain products and services offered by exhibitors,” explained Greg Baer, director of sales for show sponsor MHI.
“Sixty-four companies submitted 76 different entries, and were judged prior to the show by a committee of industry experts to narrow down each category to six finalists,” Baer continued. “Those finalists were visited on Monday by the committee, who then selected the winner in each category.”
Finalists in the “Existing Innovation” category were: Digital Lumens, Hyster, Valley Craft, McCue, Product Protector and QTEK Design. In the “New Innovation” category, finalists included: Cisco-Eagle, Intralox, Magline, PowerHandling, Sentry Protection Products and Yale Materials Handling.
The contest defines innovation as a new product, product line, technology or service—or new application of existing products or technology—that creates quantifiable and sustainable results in terms of return on investment (ROI), cost savings and customer satisfaction. All innovation award submissions are showcased on the show floor.
