The Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) and The Association for Automatic Identification and Mobility (AIM) announce the establishment of a joint award honoring Allan Gilligan, a revolutionary developer of supply chain standards across multiple industries.

The award will be presented to a member of the industry who has made outstanding contributions to the development of automatic identification and data communications (AIDC) applications in materials handling and logistics in the supply chain. The recipient of the Allan Gilligan award, along with other AIM leadership awards, will be announced at the AIM Industry Awards gala reception and dinner at the AIM Summit September 10, 2012 in Rosemont, IL.

“AIM is pleased to collaborate with long-standing partner, Material Handling Industry for this award,” states Chuck Evanhoe, AIM board chairman. “AIM’s roots are in MHI, and our organizations are synergistic enough to warrant significant recognition for individuals who contribute to both.”

“MHIA is happy to jointly sponsor this award with AIM to honor Allan Gilligan. Allan led committees and participated anywhere he was needed to bring together a wide range of interests in the name of creating automatic identification standards that made the industry work better,“says George W. Prest, CEO of MHIA.

Nomination forms are available on the AIM Web site at http://www.aimglobal.org/aboutaim/awards.asp or by calling the AIM office. Nominations for this new award will be accepted until August 1, 2012.
