Despite lackluster forecasts, companies in several industries--materials handling included--expect business to be reasonably good in 2008. The U.S. economy will grow in 2008, but slowly and steadily. In terms of gross domestic product, that translates into 2.5 to 3%. However, despite having a platform from which to automate, one-half to one-third of those companies do not use their WMS beyond the most basic functionality of receiving, put-away, picking, and shipping.
