During ProMat, Nucor Warehouse Systems (Booth S1068) revealed its corporate sustainability and responsibility initiative, known as Closed Loop Sustainability.
Due to the program, users’ existing racks will be dismantled and recycled. Afterward, the materials will be re-engineered, as new rack systems are installed in their DCs or warehouses.
To help users achieve their rack system initiatives, Nucor manages the program’s following four steps.
- Extract: Nucor will first dismantle users’ existing or old racks.
- Process: Its partner companies will then melt the existing/old racks into raw materials.
- Reform: From there, Nucor will create strong, safer racks at their manufacturing facilities.
- Install: After Nucor installs the new racks, users will achieve more sustainability than they previously did.
- “We’ve been able to leverage partner companies to truly close the loop on recycling old racks,” said Reed Reynolds, commercial director at Nucor Warehouse Systems. “As a result, we’re helping our customers meet their sustainability goals in a tangible way. And, with our resources, we’ll continue to provide the support they need, in order to propel them forward in their businesses.”
