Retail sales see modest April gains

The NRF reported that April retail sales, excluding automobiles, gas stations, and restaurants, saw a 0.3 percent seasonally-adjusted increase over March, and were up 3 percent on an unadjusted annual basis, and the Department of Commerce reported a 0.4 percent increase from March to April at $474.9 million and a 4.5 percent gain over April 2016.

Commerce, NRF report solid January retail sales

Commerce reported that January retail sales were up 0.2 percent compared to December and saw a 5.6 percent annual gain at $472.1 billion. The NRF reported that retail sales, excluding automobiles, gas stations, and restaurants, headed up 3.8 percent annually in January and were up 0.4 percent on a seasonally-adjusted basis compared to a very strong December.
