Caster Concepts acquires Modern Suspension Systems caster line

Acquired company specializes in shock isolation and shock absorption casters.

Caster Concepts, a manufacturer of heavy duty industrial casters and wheels, has acquired the assets of Modern Suspension Systems of Rockford, Ill.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Caster Concepts to acquire Modern Suspension Systems, an innovator in shock isolation and shock absorption casters,” said William H. Dobbins, president of Caster Concepts. “Modern Suspension Systems is a pioneer in shock absorption casters, supplying products to critical applications for the past 50 years. Caster Concepts will carry on a great tradition of excellent products and superior customer service.”

The tread tray carts and die cast business, which has been a part of Modern Suspension Systems, will remain under the control of MS Holdings Rockford LLC in Rockford, Ill. MS Holdings Rockford will also become a distributor of Caster Concepts products as part of the acquisition. Modern Suspension Systems has a long standing distributor relationship with R.T. Laird, Inc. of Plymouth, Mich.

As part of the transition, Farrel Tedder, president of MS Holdings Rockford LLC., will remain on as adviser to assure customer needs are met and information is transferred. “We have found a perfect fit for Modern - continuing the quality and support we have worked hard to establish,” Tedder said. “I look forward to working with the Caster Concepts team to make the transition smooth and to assure all customers are served.”

Caster Concepts will move all operations of Modern Suspension Systems to its U.S. base in Albion, Mich. The move will be completed in seven days and manufacturing will start immediately.
