Crown Equipment celebrates champions of forklift safety

Crown executives attend National Forklift Safety Day events in Washington, D.C.

Crown Equipment Corporation, one of the world’s largest material handling companies, is participating in the Industrial Truck Association’s (ITA) National Forklift Safety Day by celebrating the important role each person associated with the manufacture and operation of a forklift plays in making safety a priority.

Utilizing the theme, “I am a champion of safety,” Crown will be distributing safety-based “call-to-action” materials throughout its retail locations and corporate offices noting the role of design, technology, training, and individual responsibility in taking ownership of safe forklift operation. Crown executives will also attend National Forklift Safety Day events in Washington, D.C.

“Safety must be a universal desire,” said Ron Brewer, manager of operator training, Crown Equipment. “However, it may mean something different to nearly everyone associated with forklifts from design to utilization. We take pride in helping our customers define safety priorities, employ best practices, monitor and measure progress, and continuously improve behaviors in order to create a meaningful safety culture. We’re happy to join the Industrial Truck Association in its efforts to reinforce awareness of this important topic throughout our organization and our customers’ organizations.”

Crown offers tools and resources for customer-led classes in three formats: operator training, train-the-trainer training, and warehouse supervisor training. For a full listing of Crown’s training programs, visit the Training section of crown.com or contact a local Crown Lift Trucks location. Operators seeking to review the safety manual for their Crown forklift may download it in the Operator’s Corner section of the Crown website.

According to the ITA, National Forklift Safety Day serves “as a focal point for manufacturers to highlight the safe use of forklifts and importance of operator training. This day provides an opportunity for the industry to educate customers, policymakers and the administration on forklift operating safety practices.”

For more than 60 years, the ITA has been the leading organization of industrial truck manufacturers and suppliers of component parts and accessories that conduct business in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Based in Washington, D.C., ITA maintains an influential voice in international standards development for the industry. The organization also advances engineering practices to promote safe products, disseminates statistical marketplace information, and provides industry forums for learning and networking.
