The average price per gallon of diesel gasoline dropped two cents to $2.976 per gallon, according to the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).
This marks the fifth consecutive weekly decline going back to the week of February 5, with prices falling a cumulative 11 cents during that period. Last week’s average , of $2.92, marked the first time in the previous seven weeks that the diesel average was below the $3 per gallon mark.
Compared to the same week a year ago, the average price per gallon is up 41.2 cents.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil currently at $61.36 per barrel, down from $62.57 last week.
