EnerSys showcases energy technology

The story being told at EnerSys (Booth 1203) was all about power, so the company highlighted its fast charge and opportunity charging systems. Both technologies are designed to move the customer away from changing out batteries, Richard Benson, EnerSys sales engineer, told Modern at a booth visit on Wednesday.

One solution highlighted by EnerSys was the Express battery and charger products that can eliminate battery changes, changing rooms and equipment while helping to generate higher productivity and lower operating costs. The idea, Benson explained, is to keep the operator on the lift truck rather than stopping to deal with battery issues. He also said that by eliminating changes safety is enhanced because operators aren’t lifting and moving heavy batteries.

EnerSys also shone the spotlight on opportunity charging solutions, including the EnForcer and Ironclad. The EnForce includes multiple ports and intelligent microprocessors that optimize charging efficiency and current/voltage control. Ironclad features a square tubular design of Ironclad batteries that offer a greater positive plate surface area compared to round tube batteries. Both opportunity charging systems, as well as others offered by EnerSys, enable battery charging during breaks and shift changes.

Looking into the future of power sources, EnerSys also displayed tomorrow’s technology, namely its hydrogen fuel cell and lithium battery.
