KoamTac, Inc. names Mark Schmidt chief operating officer

Schmidt has over 20 years of experience in barcode scanning technology, most recently serving as Vice President of Business Development at Honeywell Scanning & Mobility.

KoamTac has named Mark Schmidt as chief operating officer, KoamTac president and CEO Hanjin Lee, Ph.D., announced today.

“We are excited to have Mark join KoamTac’s senior management team and to bring his experience and vision to help lead KoamTac at a time of tremendous growth and expansion worldwide,” said Lee.

KoamTac, based in Princeton, New Jersey, is an international leader in the smartphone accessory industry as the manufacturer of the KDC, a premier line of programmable Bluetooth barcode scanners and card readers that are compatible with virtually every major operating platform, including Android, iOS, Mac, Windows and Blackberry.

Schmidt has over 20 years of experience in barcode scanning technology, most recently serving as Vice President of Business Development at Honeywell Scanning & Mobility. Previously, Mark served as Executive Vice President for Metrologic before being acquired by Honeywell.

“Mark’s broad knowledge of product, market development and business strategy will enhance our relationship with both clients and partners and help us push forward with our platform of innovation,” added Lee.

“I am greatly impressed with Dr. Lee’s vision for expanding the utility of consumer-grade smartphones and tablets in the enterprise by creating extremely portable, smart, Bluetooth data capture accessories,” commented Schmidt. “I could not be more excited to partner with Dr. Lee to mature and grow KoamTac’s already-successful business in what is perhaps our industry’s most exciting and dynamic growth segment.”

A native of New Jersey, Schmidt earned his B.S. in industrial engineering with a concentration in lasers and electro-optics from Rowan University.
