Minhas to deliver keynote at PPWLN breakfast at Pack Expo Las Vegas

Manjit Minhas, renowned Canadian entrepreneur, beer baroness, and television personality, will be this year’s keynote speaker at the PPWLN Breakfast at PACK EXPO Las Vegas

The Packaging & Processing Women’s Leadership Network (PPWLN) is excited to announce Manjit Minhas, renowned Canadian entrepreneur, beer baroness, and television personality, as this year’s keynote speaker at the PPWLN Breakfast at PACK EXPO Las Vegas on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023. Produced by PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, PACK EXPO Las Vegas will feature more than 2,000 exhibitors showcasing the newest innovations for more than 40 vertical markets, spanning nearly 1 million square feet of exhibit space.

At the age of 19, Minhas co-founded the Minhas Brewery, Distillery, and Winery in Alberta Canada alongside her brother Ravinder Minhas. Since then, she has led a privately-owned empire with revenues exceeding $220 million and offering over 90 brands of beers, spirits, liqueurs, and wines. Her companies have sold over 8 billion pints of beer, making her a significant player in the Canadian and US markets.

Breakfast attendees will hear Minhas share her insights, experiences, and valuable lessons.

"Her journey from a young entrepreneur to an industry leader is inspiring, and her insights will benefit women in packaging and processing fields, whether you are an established leader or a student just entering the industry,” says Tracy Stout, vice president, marketing and communications, PMMI.

Breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, in room N-247 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Students who attend the breakfast are welcome to stay afterward and participate in a tour of the show floor led by PPWLN leaders.

In her commitment to sustainability, Minhas innovatively created a special 48-can pack for COSTCO, significantly reducing packaging materials. By eliminating plastic Hi-Cone rings and minimizing box material, this eco-friendly approach prevents millions of pounds of waste from burdening landfills. Her other beer brands, like Boxer Lager, also adhere to sound engineering principles, using minimal packaging materials to protect the environment.

Minhas is dedicated to social responsibility and actively takes steps to educate consumers. She was the first brewer in Canada to add a Management Warning on all her beer cans, urging against drinking and driving, advising expectant mothers to avoid alcoholic products, and promoting responsible consumption to respect oneself and others. Throughout her career, she has actively supported philanthropic causes, with a particular focus on initiatives benefiting women and children.

The PPWLN Breakfast is sponsored by Emerson, ID Technology, Morrison Container Handling Solutions, BW Packaging, Septimatech Group, SMC Corporation of America, PowHer, a ProMach Women’s Resource Group, PlexPack, and WestRock.
