National diesel average, for week of April 22, is down for the second straight week


After seeing gains in three out of four weeks through the week of April 8, the national average price per gallon of diesel gasoline declined for the second consecutive week, according to data issued this week by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).

For the week of April 22, the national average fell 2.3 cents, to $3.922. This followed a 2.3-cent decrease, to $4.015 per gallon, for the week of April 15, which was preceded by a 6.5-cent increase, to $4.004, for the week of April 8.

That followed a 3.8-cent decline, to $3.996, for the week of April 1, and a slight 0.006-cent increase, to $4.034, for the week of March 25, and a 2.4-cent increase, to $4.028, for the week of March 18.

Compared to the same week a year ago, the national average was down 8.5 cents.

The average price per barrel of WTI crude is currently trading at $82.13 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
