New intelligent gearbox range from Lenze

Lenze (Booth 5131), a manufacturer of electrical and mechanical drives, motion control and automation technology, highlighted its new g500 gearbox range, which was developed to transform motor speed into torque intelligently and accurately.

Designed for mechatronic integration with the Lenze Smart Motor, the finely tiered series of g500 gearboxes enable efficiency of more than 94% across the entire transmission range.

“Intelligence is all about rethinking existing solutions to suit how they are used in actual applications, and bringing them to life them in a way that offers maximum benefit to mechanical engineers and plant operators,” said Robert Gradischnig, electro-mechanical business development manager for Lenze. “The MF motor enables speed-controlled operation with frequency inverters. In tandem, the g500 gearbox and Smart Motor give customers the freedom of fixed speeds to be set at will in applications.”

The new g500 gearboxes minimize losses, so the motor can generate less energy, which improves the bottom-line efficiency of the entire system. The lower level of generated heat increases the overall service life.

The g500 gearboxes are designed for total integration with the Lenze Smart Motor. A single, efficient motor for many applications, the Smart Motor offers numerous integrated functions for materials handling applications, including higher starting torque and freely adjustable speeds between 500 rpm and 2,600 rpm, which reduces the required number of drive versions by up to 70%. The compact Smart Motor meets the highest requirements in energy efficiency and can be conveniently operated using an NFC-capable smart phone.

“The new g500 gearboxes add another dimension to this extensive speed range by enabling a huge range of possible speeds and torques to be covered with just one type of gearbox motor,” Gradischnig said.

Modex 2014 is scheduled to be held March 17-20, 2014 in Atlanta’s Georgia World Conference Center. The tradeshow will showcase the latest manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions in the material handling and logistics industry. Modern’s complete Modex 2014 coverage.
