Nucor discusses future rack project

Nucor Warehouse Systems (Booth B7439) is explaining its upcoming structural rack project’s benefits.

Set to be developed for a rack-supported building that houses dairy products on the East Coast, the cold storage rack project will use an advanced automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS). Featuring two three-pallet position-deep cranes and pick tunnels, the AS/RS will enable Nucor’s client to conduct its picking tasks faster, while simultaneously loading products onto trucks more rapidly.

Due to the AS/RS’s potential impact on picking and loading speed, more than 7,600 pallet positions are currently planned. Prior to implementing these pallet positions, the rack-supported building must be connected to an existing structure that’s considered a cold-storage environment. Consequently, products will be consistently stored and transported at safe temperatures.

“The rack will be created this spring,” said Daniel Aguirre, national sales manager at Nucor Warehouse Systems. “It will likely be set for delivery this summer, leading to various benefits soon.”
