PMMI is has announced that PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2011 has been listed among the TSNN Top 250 — ranked 23rd in net square footage in 2011 by Trade Show News Network (TSNN).
The 2011 edition of the biennial PACK EXPO Las Vegas measured 627,853 net square feet, expanding 30.5 percent from the show’s 2009 previous edition.
“PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2011 broke all records. Visitor attendance went up 14.8 percent, exhibiting companies increased by 36.7%, and international attendance increased by nearly a third (32.8%),” says Jim Pittas.
The secret, Pittas says, is in the approach. In 2011, PMMI debuted a customer-centric approach to PACK EXPO.
“Taking a customer-centric approach to PACK EXPO means looking at and planning the show from the perspective of the attendee — our members’ and exhibitors’ customer. It’s a focus on specific attendee markets that is seen in marketing material, on the show floor, on our website and in programming,” Pittas says. “Clearly, it works for attendees and for exhibitors.”
PMMI is using the same strategy for PACK EXPO International 2012 (McCormick Place, Chicago; Oct. 28–31). The three pilot markets targeted in 2011 — confectionery, baking/snack and pharmaceutical — will be joined by a fourth market, beverage. Customer-Centric show features include networking lounges (The Rx Lounge, The Beverage Cooler Lounge, The Candy Bar and The Baking-Snack Break); exhibitor pavilions (the Pharmaceutical Pavilion, the Confectionery Pavilion, The Processing Zone, The Food Safety Summit Pavilion) and partnerships with leading industry associations that help ensure programming stays relevant to their members. Industry associations also work with the Conference at PACK EXPO to design educational offerings.
Additionally, PACK EXPO will reprise the PACK EXPO Lecture Series launched in 2011 with co-presenters Dennis Miller and James Carville.
“Last year’s Lecture proved its value to the team,” says Pittas. “And our customer-centric approach expands the team greatly. As a result, we deliver a better attendee experience and a better exhibitor experience.”
