Packsize wins Edison Award for on-demand packaging machine

The winning machine produces the right-sized box for every product as needed.

The Packsize automated iQ Fusion 2 on-demand packaging machine was named the 2015 Silver Award Applied Technology - Industrial Solutions winner by the internationally renowned Edison Awards at its annual event in New York City on April 23.

The distinguished awards, inspired by Thomas Edison’s persistence and inventiveness, recognize innovation, creativity, and ingenuity in the global economy.

“Receiving this Edison Award—one of the most prestigious accolades honoring excellence in new product and service development—is a great honor for Packsize,” said Packsize CFO Bradley Wittwer, who attended the gala event. “It was meaningful to be counted among such innovative solutions, and noteworthy to be recognized the same year that Clayton Christensen was honored with an Edison Achievement Award since Packsize has borrowed so extensively from his research and teachings on disruptive innovation.”

The machine produces the right-sized box for every product exactly when needed. Providing an infinite number of boxes for variable-sized products directly on a company’s pack line, this lean packaging system manages corrugated material, increases productivity, and improves sustainability.

The Edison Award finalists spanned 12 categories and more than 30 sub-categories. The recognition is ranked highly due to the unbiased reviews of entries by a network of industry experts, business executives, and academics who provide third-party validation.
